Hot Mulled Wine Served In An Apple


Hot Mulled Wine

Organic Grill

4 cups organic apple juice or cider

1 (750-ml) bottle organic red wine

1/4 cup organic maple syrup or agave

2 cinnamon sticks (for steeping) & 6 (for garnish)

1 orange, zested and juiced

1/2 cup mulling spices (Cinnamon, ginger root, orange peel, lemon peel, cloves)

4 oranges, peeled, for garnish

6 organic granny smith or red delicious apples

Combine the apple cider, wine, maple, cinnamon sticks, zest, juice, mulling spices in a large saucepan, bring to a boil and simmer over low heat for 10 minutes. While steeping take 6 apples and cut off tops. Take a small ice cream scooper or melon baller and scoop out the inside of the apples. Pour into apple as a mug, add an orange peel to each, cover with apple top and garnish with cinnamon stick!
